Hello, my name is Gwen Jenkins. I've been married to my wonderful husband and friend for 37 years, we have 5 beautiful daughters, 6 amazing grandbabies, and 1 on the way. I love, love, love spending quality time with my family, whether it's taking a drive with the grandbabies or camping in Fort Bragg and enjoying the beautiful ocean waves together.

I have been very blessed to work for the Oroville Elementary School District for almost 5 years. My job title is Multi-Tier System of Support Aide (MTSS), and the school that I'm assigned to is Oakdale Heights Elementary School. My job allows me to work one on one with students that may need a break from class throughout the day, also I coordinate our Check In, Check Out program, so I'm meeting with students before class to see how their day is starting and give them a quick pep talk and set goals to help them focus on having a great day, and at the end of the day we meet again to see how their day went.

What I would really love to see accomplished this year is more parental involvement (yes, I know this is a tough one, but it's so needed). I remember as a kid growing up, the school auditorium filled with parents to watch their child perform, whether it was a talent show or a Christmas performance, and afterwards the school Principal would go to the stage and thank all the parents for coming, and then he would take the opportunity to share how important their involvement in their student’s education was; some parents would actually start volunteering. This is what I would love to see come back.
