PEP's June Newsletter

Hello PEP friends and supporters!

It is officially summer, and the Butte County weather is proof of that!  We have already experienced numerous days of temperatures above 100 degrees. If you are in education or have children still in school, you know that this time of year is welcomed as a well-deserved time of rest, memory-making events, and, if you are a teacher, time for planning for the upcoming school year. After getting the opportunity to fill in for a principal friend of mine who needed to take some time off in May, I am reminded of the importance of the rest that comes over the summer break.  There were many incidents that left me leaving the day exhausted from supporting students with significant social or emotional challenges.  It reaffirmed my desire to build PEP into an even stronger supporter of schools!  We need educators to be at the top of their game and our community is one of the main sources of that support.

The last month of school is typically a time for end-of-year assessments, field trips, and celebrations.  I was able to participate in a few of them, and at one particular event, I got to see the smiles of kindergarteners who were performing in a talent show.  Their talent was hula-hooping to some fun music.  One student in particular used 5 hula-hoops at the same time!  I can’t even keep one going!  Another thing I got to be a part of was hearing teachers talk about how much progress their students had made over the year.  One student that comes to mind was a student who visited the Wellness Center on a daily basis last year, but this year they almost never visited due to the growth of the social and emotional tools that they learned in class!  Priceless…

Next month, in our Building Bridges newsletter, I will be providing details about how much PEP provided in its support for schools and what we’d like to accomplish next school year.

We are always looking for people and businesses interested in joining our mission of supporting the students and educators in our schools.  If you would like to support PEP, please click on the link below.  Also, I would love for you to share our mission with others in your sphere of influence who you think would like to join our mission.

I wish you a wonderful summer!

Bridge Builder,

Todd
