I will be using our Blog for a variety of things, including sharing about various school events, highlighting partnerships created with community members and organizations, and spotlighting the amazing educators in our area.

This week I got to spend some time with Dylan Wakefield, a 4th grade teacher at McManus Elementary in Chico.  I enjoyed talking with him about his experiences this past year with his class (and his dog Nash!).  Having recently completed his teacher credential program a couple of years ago, he shared about the highs and lows of being new to the profession.  Dylan is a creative and funny guy!  I can only imagine how much fun his students have learning in his class.  He talked a lot about his students and how much he cared about them and how challenging it can be at the end of the day processing if you were able to support each student the way you wanted to.

In regards to ways that PEP could support him, he mentioned that he uses a raffle system and buys prizes for the raffle on his own. Many teachers are like Dylan, buying many classroom resources out of their own personal finances.  I would love for PEP to be able to support teachers like Dylan by providing them donations to purchase academic, attendance and behavioral incentives.  Maybe you might be able to provide that support?  If so, please visit the donation page and show how much you care!
